Moroccan football continues to produce exciting young talent in Europe, and Adam Baalal has taken another important step in his promising career.

Saint-Étienne officially announced on Tuesday that the 19-year-old Moroccan has signed a professional contract with the French club until 2029.

From Mohammed VI Academy to France

Baalal joined Saint-Étienne during the previous winter transfer window after arriving from Union Touarga, having previously developed at the Mohammed VI Football Academy.

Despite his young age, the midfielder had already experienced senior football in Morocco, making seven appearances in the Moroccan professional league after making his debut at just 17.

He also represented Morocco across several youth levels, collecting 13 international appearances for the Under-16, Under-17, and Under-20 teams.

Rising Through the Saint-Étienne Ranks

After arriving in France, Baalal initially featured for Saint-Étienne's Under-19 side before earning a place in the club's reserve team competing in France's National 3.

His progress accelerated toward the end of last season, when he started the reserve team's final seven matches and earned opportunities to train and travel with the senior squad.

That development continued into the current preseason.

Making His Mark With the First Team

Under head coach Eirik Horneland, Baalal impressed during Saint-Étienne's summer preparations, scoring twice in friendly matches against Lausanne and Venezia.

Those performances strengthened his case for a place among the senior players and highlighted his growing confidence at professional level.

He subsequently made his official debut in Ligue 2 against Sochaux, before featuring again in the club's most recent match against Clermont.

A Proud Moment for Baalal

Following the signing, Baalal expressed his excitement at committing his future to one of French football's historic clubs.

He described the professional contract as a moment of great pride and made clear that his ambition is to continue working hard and earn more opportunities with the Saint-Étienne first team.

For a player who only recently arrived from Moroccan football, the journey already represents a remarkable rise.

Saint-Étienne Believe in His Potential

Saint-Étienne sporting director Loïc Perrin also praised the youngster's development, highlighting the quality he demonstrated throughout preseason.

Perrin pointed to Baalal's technical ability as well as his positive mentality and attitude, qualities that have helped him progress quickly through the club's structure.

The professional contract until 2029 represents a clear sign of the club's belief in his long-term potential.

Another Moroccan Prospect on the Rise

Baalal's story is another example of the growing pathway between Morocco's football development system and European football.

From the Mohammed VI Academy to Union Touarga and now Saint-Étienne, the teenager has steadily climbed each step of the professional ladder.

At just 19, Adam Baalal has already opened the door to a promising future in France, and the next chapter of his Moroccan football story is only beginning.
