A familiar face is returning to Dutch football.
Sofyan Amrabat has officially joined Ajax Amsterdam on a two-year contract, with the Dutch giants confirming the arrival of the Morocco international on Sunday.
The 30-year-old completed his medical examinations before putting pen to paper on a deal that will keep him in Amsterdam until the summer of 2028.
A Return to Familiar Ground
Amrabat returns to the Eredivisie, where his professional journey first began with FC Utrecht before later representing Feyenoord.
Ajax now becomes the third Dutch club of his career, giving the experienced midfielder the opportunity to return to a league he knows well.
That familiarity could allow Amrabat to settle quickly as he begins another chapter of his European career.
Months in the Making
The move to Amsterdam had been building for several months.
Speaking to Ajax's official website, Amrabat revealed that he had remained in contact with technical director Jordi Cruyff since April, meaning the eventual transfer came after a lengthy period of discussions.
Cruyff welcomed the Moroccan international and highlighted the qualities that convinced Ajax to make the move.

The Ajax technical director also pointed to Amrabat's knowledge of Dutch football, expressing confidence that the midfielder will adapt quickly.

Amrabat arrives in Amsterdam following two seasons with Fenerbahce, including a loan spell with Spanish side Real Betis.
Before that, the Moroccan midfielder built an extensive European résumé, representing clubs including Fiorentina, Manchester United, Club Brugge, Feyenoord, Utrecht, and Real Betis.
His journey across some of Europe's biggest leagues has given him valuable experience at both club and international level.
