Moroccan international Anass Salah-Eddine has completed a move to Panathinaikos, joining the Greek giants on a one-year loan from Italian side Roma.
The 24-year-old arrives with considerable experience across Dutch and European football, as well as an increasingly important role with the Moroccan national team.
From Amsterdam to European Football
Born in Amsterdam on January 18, 2002, Salah-Eddine began his football journey at the AZ Alkmaar academy before moving to Ajax three years later.
He made his professional debut for Ajax during the 2021-22 Eredivisie season, before gaining valuable first-team experience during a loan spell at FC Twente the following campaign.
His performances impressed enough for Twente to bring him back permanently during the 2023-24 season, where he continued to develop into one of the Netherlands' promising young defenders.
A Move to Roma
Salah-Eddine's impressive displays for Twente eventually attracted attention from across Europe.
In February 2025, Roma invested more than €8 million to bring the Moroccan international to the Stadio Olimpico.
The move represented another major step in a career that had taken him from Dutch academies to the highest levels of European football.
Championship Experience With PSV
Salah-Eddine returned to the Netherlands on loan during the 2025-26 season, this time joining PSV Eindhoven.
He played an important role as PSV went on to win the Dutch league title, adding another major achievement to his growing European experience.
Now, the defender begins a new chapter in Greece with Panathinaikos, where he will look to continue his development and make his mark in another competitive European league.
Choosing Morocco
Salah-Eddine represented the Netherlands at youth level before choosing to represent Morocco at senior international level.
He made his Atlas Lions debut on November 14, 2025, against Mozambique, opening a new chapter in his international career.
Since then, he has become part of Morocco's growing pool of talented players from the global Moroccan diaspora, proudly wearing the national colors on the biggest stages.
A World Cup Experience to Remember
Salah-Eddine was part of Morocco's squad at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, playing a role in the Atlas Lions' remarkable campaign.
He featured against Brazil, Haiti, the Netherlands, and France, including a starting role in Morocco's quarterfinal clash against France.
The experience provided another important milestone in his international career, as Morocco once again reached the final eight of the World Cup.
