Nayef Aguerd has addressed the speculation surrounding his potential return to Real Sociedad, offering clarity on the negotiations and putting an end to recent questions surrounding his fitness.

The Moroccan defender explained through an Instagram story that a return to the Spanish club had genuinely been under consideration, while emphasizing the respect he continues to have for Real Sociedad.

Medical Tests Were Not the Issue

Aguerd revealed that the medical examination he underwent as part of the proposed move went smoothly.

The results were approved by both clubs, meaning there was no medical problem preventing the transfer from moving forward.

Instead, the main point of disagreement concerned the defender's return-to-play program.

A Question of Readiness

Aguerd explained that he believes a gradual return to competitive football is important to ensure he can complete the upcoming season at full capacity.

Real Sociedad's coach, however, wanted to be able to count on the Moroccan defender immediately.

The difference in approach ultimately contributed to the negotiations being put on hold, rather than any lack of desire from Aguerd to return to the club.

Respect for Real Sociedad Remains

The Morocco international made it clear that his position should not be interpreted as a rejection of Real Sociedad or a lack of respect toward the club.

His priority, he explained, is protecting his physical condition and avoiding any setback that could affect his season.

That approach reflects Aguerd's determination to return to his best level while ensuring he can contribute consistently over the long term.

Marseille Commitment Remains Strong

Aguerd also acknowledged the financial situation surrounding Olympique de Marseille, while recognizing that the transfer market remains open and that circumstances can still change before its conclusion.

For now, however, the defender remains fully committed to Marseille.

He reaffirmed his determination to continue wearing the club's colors, giving everything alongside his teammates and for the supporters as long as he remains at the club.

A Future Still Open

Aguerd is currently under contract with Marseille until summer 2030, giving the club a long-term commitment from one of Morocco's most experienced defenders.

Whether his future ultimately remains in France or takes him back to Spain, one message from the Moroccan international is clear: his priority is returning to full fitness and preparing for a long and successful season.
