Morocco’s national futsal team is one step away from the continental final after completing an outstanding group-stage campaign at the 2026 Africa Futsal Cup of Nations. The Atlas Lions will face Egypt on Monday, October 19, at 8 p.m., with a place in the final at stake on home soil.

The hosts have made a powerful statement throughout the opening round, winning all three matches, scoring freely and keeping their opponents off the scoresheet. Now, they face a more demanding challenge against an Egyptian side that also demonstrated its attacking quality before suffering defeat in its final group fixture.

Morocco Arrive With Perfect Group-Stage Record

The Atlas Lions finished top of Group A with nine points, completing the group stage with three consecutive victories and an impressive goal difference.

Their campaign began with a convincing 4–0 win over Algeria, before they produced an even more emphatic performance against Zambia, winning 7–0.

Morocco then closed out the group stage with a commanding 6–0 victory over Libya, confirming their place at the top of the standings and maintaining their defensive record.

Across those three matches, the Moroccan team scored 17 goals and conceded none. The figures underline the balance of their performances, combining attacking efficiency with disciplined defending.

With the knockout stage now approaching, Morocco will look to carry that momentum into a semifinal that demands concentration, composure and clinical finishing.

Egypt Advance Despite Defeat to Angola

Egypt secured second place in Group B with six points, setting up their meeting with the hosts.

The Egyptian side opened the competition with an emphatic 8–0 victory over Tanzania, followed by a 4–0 win against Mozambique. Those results established Egypt as a dangerous attacking opponent heading into the final round of group fixtures.

However, their momentum was interrupted on Saturday when they lost 4–2 to Angola at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Indoor Hall in Rabat.

That result allowed Angola to finish top of Group B, while Egypt advanced to the semifinals in second place. Despite the setback, the Egyptians finished the group stage with 14 goals scored and four conceded, demonstrating their ability to create scoring opportunities.

Their meeting with Morocco will now provide an opportunity to respond to that defeat and challenge for a place in the continental showpiece.

Angola and Algeria Set for the Other Semifinal

The second semifinal will see Angola face Algeria, with both teams seeking to book their place in the final.

Angola secured first place in Group B after defeating Egypt, while Algeria advanced from Group A behind Morocco.

The two semifinal winners will progress to the final, bringing the tournament closer to its decisive stage and setting up the possibility of another memorable chapter in African futsal.

Morocco Target Another Final on Home Soil

For Morocco, Monday’s encounter represents an important opportunity to turn an exceptional group-stage performance into a place in the final.

The Atlas Lions have shown their ability to dominate matches, score goals from different situations and maintain defensive discipline. Those qualities will be crucial against an Egyptian team capable of posing a serious attacking threat.

Playing in front of their home supporters offers Morocco another source of motivation, but the semifinal will require the same focus and intensity that carried them through the opening round.

With 17 goals scored, none conceded and three victories secured, Morocco have laid down a strong marker in the competition. Their next challenge is to maintain that standard when it matters most and take one more step towards the African futsal crown.
