Morocco continues to make its mark at the 2026 Mediterranean Games in Taranto, with the national delegation now up to 35 medals, including 12 gold, five silver, and 18 bronze.
With the competition entering its final stages, Moroccan athletes have produced standout performances across athletics, tennis, boxing, karate, and several other disciplines.
Hssine Rockets to 100m Gold
One of the biggest highlights came from Yassine Hssine, who claimed gold in the men's 100 meters on August 30.
The Moroccan sprinter crossed the finish line in 10.31 seconds, finishing ahead of Italy's Eric Marek, who clocked 10.41, while Slovenia's Anej Čurin Prapotnik completed the podium in 10.43.
Despite a challenging -2.8 m/s headwind, Hssine delivered when it mattered most and secured another prestigious athletics gold for Morocco.
A Rising Star of Moroccan Athletics
Hssine arrived in Taranto in outstanding form after setting Moroccan records in both the 100m and 200m earlier this year.
His personal bests currently stand at 10.02 seconds in the 100m and 19.92 seconds in the 200m, underlining the remarkable level of talent emerging from Moroccan athletics.
His latest Mediterranean Games triumph adds another milestone to what has already been a breakthrough 2026 season.
Birdaha Adds Another Athletics Gold
Morocco's success on the track continued on the same day.
Fatima Ezzahra Birdaha captured gold in the women's 5,000 meters, producing a personal-best time of 15:07.40.
She finished ahead of Italy's Micol Majori and Türkiye's Silan Ayyildiz, giving Morocco another memorable moment in athletics.
Gold on the Tennis Court
Morocco's medal-winning performances have extended beyond athletics.
In tennis, Younes El Alami Laroussi and Yassine Dlimi secured men's doubles gold after defeating Spain's Alejandro Marti Pujolràs and Alejo Sánchez Quílez 7-5, 6-4 in the final.
Their journey to the title included a thrilling semifinal victory over Cyprus, where the Moroccan pair prevailed 6-7, 7-5, 12-10.
Boxing Delivers More Glory
Moroccan boxing has also played an important role in the delegation's impressive medal haul.
Soulaimane Samghouli won gold in the men's under-65kg category after defeating Algeria's Ismail Bekhsis 3-2 in the final.
Morocco finished third in the boxing medal standings with two golds, one silver, and three bronze medals, highlighting the strength of the country's fighters across the competition.
Sriti Adds Karate Gold
Another Moroccan triumph arrived in karate, where Mehdi Sriti claimed the men's under-84kg title.
Sriti produced a dominant performance in the knockout rounds, defeating Albania's Milos Gashi 4-0 in the semifinal before overcoming Libya's Mohamed Ahmed Aboudabous 5-1 in the final.
His success followed Chaimae El Hayti's gold-medal victory in the women's under-55kg category, adding further momentum to Morocco's karate campaign.
Morocco's Medal Haul
With the latest results, Morocco's delegation has collected:

- 35 medals overall
The Taranto 2026 Mediterranean Games feature athletes from 26 countries, with competition scheduled to continue through September 3.
One Final Push for More History
With the final days approaching, Morocco's athletes have already given the nation plenty to celebrate.
But the mission is not finished.
Thirty-five medals represent an outstanding achievement, yet the Atlas spirit continues to push forward, with Morocco chasing every remaining opportunity to add more gold, more podium finishes, and another proud chapter to its sporting story.
