Morocco's football leadership has reaffirmed its commitment to building on the nation's recent success by unveiling a new phase of development focused on women's football, governance, and the continued growth of the country's domestic competitions.
During the Royal Moroccan Football Federation's executive committee meeting on Monday, FRMF President Fouzi Lekjaa led discussions on the future direction of Moroccan football, placing long-term sustainability and structural development at the center of the federation's vision.
Women's Football Remains a Strategic Priority
A significant portion of the meeting focused on the continued development of women's football.
National Women's Football League President Khadija Ila presented a comprehensive review of the progress made since the federation launched its development strategy in 2020, highlighting the expansion of professional competitions, increased participation, improved coaching structures, and stronger administrative organization.
She also outlined the federation's ongoing transition toward a fully professional model between 2024 and 2026, with particular emphasis on youth development, club support, and improving the overall quality of national competitions.
Greater Independence for National Leagues
One of the meeting's most notable announcements came from Fouzi Lekjaa, who confirmed that Morocco's national leagues will receive full administrative autonomy beginning at the end of December 2026.
The move forms part of the FRMF's wider efforts to strengthen governance, improve operational efficiency, and provide each league with greater responsibility for managing its own affairs while maintaining high organizational standards.
Investing in the Next Generation
National Technical Director Fathi Jamal also proposed the creation of a dedicated women's football technical department within Morocco's National Technical Directorate.
The specialized unit would oversee player development programs, technical education, and long-term talent identification, reinforcing Morocco's commitment to producing future generations of Atlas Lionesses capable of competing at the highest international level.
Infrastructure also featured prominently in the discussions, with the federation emphasizing the importance of expanding facilities dedicated specifically to women's football as part of its 2026–2030 strategic plan.
Continued Growth Across Moroccan Football
The executive committee also reviewed progress in futsal and beach soccer.
National League President Taha Mansouri highlighted another successful domestic season, pointing to the expansion of digital services, the implementation of electronic referee reports, improved licensing systems, and stronger cooperation with broadcasters to increase the visibility of national competitions.
The federation also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting clubs while continuing to modernize the organization of Morocco's domestic leagues.

Lekjaa praised Morocco's recent achievements in futsal and encouraged continued investment in infrastructure and commercial development to further elevate the sport.
Regarding beach soccer, the FRMF called for a comprehensive evaluation of recent performances, with plans to identify areas for improvement and establish a roadmap for future progress.
