Morocco futsal coach Hicham Dguig has announced his 14-player squad for the 2026 Africa Futsal Cup of Nations, with the tournament set to take place in Morocco from October 12 to 21.

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) confirmed the squad on Wednesday, September 30, as the Atlas Lions prepare to compete for another continental title in front of their home supporters.

The 14 Players Selected

The squad includes a mix of experienced internationals and established figures from Morocco’s futsal setup.

The 14 players selected are:

  • Mohamed Cheridou
  • Youssef Ben Sellam
  • Soufiane El Mesrar
  • Bilal Bakkali
  • Anas El Ayyane
  • Soufiane Borite
  • Idriss Raiss El Fenni
  • Othmane El Idrissi
  • Youssef Jouad
  • Ismail Amazal
  • Anas Dahani
  • Mohamed Reda Madih
  • Younes Mkasri
  • Yanis Erraddaf

The group will now turn its attention to the final preparations before the continental competition gets underway.

A Familiar Group Awaits Morocco

Morocco have been drawn into Group A alongside Algeria, Zambia and Libya.

The three group-stage matches will determine who advances to the knockout rounds, with the hosts aiming to make full use of their experience at continental level.

The presence of Algeria also adds another North African meeting to the group stage, while Zambia and Libya will provide different challenges as the competition progresses.

Three-Time African Champions

The Atlas Lions enter the tournament with an impressive record behind them.

Morocco have won the Africa Futsal Cup of Nations three times, while also claiming three Arab Futsal Cup titles.

That success has established the national team as one of the leading forces in African futsal, with the current generation continuing to build on the foundations created over the past decade.

Morocco’s Rise on the World Stage

The progress has not been limited to the African game.

Morocco have qualified for the FIFA Futsal World Cup four times, beginning with their first appearance in 2012.

Their most successful campaigns came in 2021 and 2024, when the Atlas Lions reached the quarter-finals on both occasions.

Those performances have further strengthened Morocco’s reputation internationally and provided the team with valuable experience against the world's strongest futsal nations.

A Fourth Continental Crown at Home

Hosting the 2026 tournament gives Morocco the opportunity to compete for another African title in familiar surroundings.

The combination of home support, continental experience and recent progress on the world stage will give the squad plenty of motivation as they prepare for the opening match.

The objective is clear: navigate a challenging group, reach the knockout stages and compete for another African championship.

The Road to October 12

The 2026 Africa Futsal Cup of Nations will run from October 12 to 21, bringing together the continent’s leading futsal nations.

For Morocco, the tournament represents another opportunity to strengthen their position at the top of African futsal and defend the title they have worked so hard to build.

With the squad now confirmed, preparations enter their final stage before the Atlas Lions begin their home campaign in pursuit of a fourth continental crown.
