Morocco's vision for one of Africa's most spectacular football venues has taken another major step forward.
Two international tenders worth nearly MAD 370 million ($39.5 million) have been launched to accelerate construction of the Grand Stadium of Casablanca in Benslimane Province.
The contracts will focus on two crucial elements of the project: the playing surface and the stadium's seating infrastructure.
Building a World-Class Pitch
The first contract, valued at approximately MAD 92.5 million ($9.9 million), covers the installation of a hybrid natural grass pitch reinforced with synthetic fibres.
Designed to withstand the demands of elite football, the playing surface will feature advanced underground ventilation and drainage systems, alongside mobile LED grow lights and an intelligent irrigation network.
Integrated sensors will monitor factors including temperature, humidity, and soil salinity, helping maintain the pitch at the highest possible standard.
The construction period is expected to last 14 months, with the successful contractor also responsible for maintaining the playing surface for another 24 months after provisional handover.
Nearly $30 Million for Stadium Seating
The second tender represents the larger investment, estimated at approximately MAD 277.5 million ($29.9 million).
It covers the supply and installation of seating throughout the stadium, including dedicated areas for supporters, media representatives, VIPs, and VVIP guests.
The project will also include press workstations and camera platforms, with every seat required to meet strict installation and numbering standards.
Like the pitch works, the seating project is scheduled for completion within 14 months, with financial penalties applying in the event of delays.
A Project Supporting Morocco's Economy
The ambitious development is also designed to generate benefits beyond the stadium itself.
Contractors will be required to prioritize Moroccan-made materials wherever possible, while up to 20% of the workforce must come from communities surrounding the construction site.
The approach ensures that the enormous investment in the stadium contributes directly to local employment and Morocco's domestic industrial ecosystem.

The Grand Stadium of Casablanca is one of Morocco's flagship infrastructure projects as the country continues its transformation into a major destination for international football.
