Yassir Zabiri is rapidly becoming one of the most exciting attacking prospects in Spanish football. The 21-year-old Moroccan international has enjoyed a remarkable start to the season with Racing Santander, scoring eight goals in ten La Liga appearances and reportedly attracting the attention of FC Barcelona.
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Barcelona sporting director Deco has added the young forward to the club's list of potential transfer targets ahead of future transfer windows.
His goalscoring numbers, room for improvement and ability to adapt to Spanish football have reportedly impressed the Catalan giants, placing another Moroccan talent on the radar of one of Europe's biggest clubs.
Eight Goals in Ten Matches Put Zabiri Among La Liga's Best
Zabiri's numbers tell the story of an exceptional start to the campaign.
With eight goals in ten appearances, the Moroccan forward sits third in the La Liga scoring rankings, level with Barcelona's Lamine Yamal and behind only Raphinha and Kylian Mbappé, according to the supplied report.
His latest contribution came against Espanyol Barcelona, where he scored in the 84th minute to secure a valuable 2-1 victory for Racing Santander.
The late goal once again demonstrated his ability to deliver when his team needs him most. His movement inside the penalty area, attacking instincts and composure in front of goal have made him one of Racing's most important offensive weapons.
For a player still establishing himself at the highest level, such consistency is attracting increasing attention.
From the Bench to Racing Santander's Main Attacking Weapon
Zabiri's rise has been particularly impressive considering how his season began.
The Moroccan arrived at Racing Santander on loan from Stade Rennais, having previously played for Portuguese side Famalicão. Initially, he was not considered a regular starter, beginning the campaign behind Asier Villalibre in the attacking hierarchy.
However, the young forward gradually earned the confidence of head coach José Alberto López.
Through his performances and goals, he transformed his position within the squad and became one of the team's most influential attacking players.
That progression highlights an important aspect of his development: his ability to respond to competition, seize opportunities and turn limited playing time into a more prominent role.
Barcelona Have Already Seen What He Can Do
Interestingly, Zabiri has already experienced what it is like to score at Barcelona's iconic Spotify Camp Nou.
Despite Racing Santander suffering a heavy 7-2 defeat against the Catalan side, the Moroccan managed to find the net during the encounter.
The moment was particularly special given his admiration for Barcelona, a club he reportedly followed during his childhood.
Now, with his performances attracting attention from the same club, the possibility of a future move carries an intriguing personal dimension.
According to Fichajes, Barcelona appreciate his goalscoring efficiency and potential to develop further within the demands of La Liga.
However, reported interest does not mean negotiations or a transfer agreement are already in place.
His Market Value Reaches €20 Million
Zabiri's growing reputation is also reflected in his reported market valuation.
According to Fichajes, the Moroccan striker's value is now approaching €20 million, approximately double the amount Stade Rennais reportedly paid to sign him from Famalicão.
His rapid development has therefore become an important story not only for Racing Santander but also for Rennes, who could benefit from his increasing value.
With Barcelona monitoring his progress and other clubs potentially taking notice, the coming months could prove decisive in shaping his future.
Another Moroccan Talent Making Europe Take Notice
Zabiri's emergence adds another exciting chapter to the growing presence of Moroccan footballers across Europe's major leagues.
Developed at the Mohammed VI Football Academy, he is now demonstrating his qualities in one of the most competitive domestic championships in world football.
His goalscoring form offers encouragement for the Atlas Lions, who could benefit from having another young forward developing into a reliable option at the highest level.
Still only 21, he has plenty of room to grow. Maintaining his current form, improving his consistency and continuing to earn regular minutes will be essential to his next step.
Barcelona are watching, La Liga is taking notice, and Yassir Zabiri is turning his breakthrough season into a statement that Moroccan football has another exciting attacking talent on the rise.
