Morocco’s national team have arrived in Tangier ahead of Sunday’s international friendly against Mali at the Grand Stade de Tanger.
The Atlas Lions travelled from Rabat aboard the Al Boraq high-speed train on Friday evening, following their final training session at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maâmora earlier in the day.
Final Preparations Continue in Tangier
Friday’s training session began at 10:30 a.m. and focused on continuing the technical staff’s preparations for the upcoming friendly.
The squad travelled to Tangier immediately after completing the session, with the players and coaching staff heading to their hotel upon arrival.
The final stage of preparations will continue on Saturday, when the team trains at the Grand Stade de Tanger from 5 p.m.
The first 15 minutes of the session will be open to the media, followed by a mixed-zone opportunity involving selected players.
A Perfect Start to AFCON 2027 Qualifying
The friendly comes after an impressive opening to Morocco’s competitive campaign.
Under Mohamed Ouahbi, the Atlas Lions defeated Gabon 2–0 in Rabat before recording another 2–0 victory against Lesotho in Bloemfontein.
Those results have given the national team a perfect start to their AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign, while the meeting in Tangier provides an opportunity to continue building momentum.
A New Opponent for the October Friendly
The visitors arrived in Tangier on Thursday after stepping in for Ghana, who withdrew from the originally scheduled fixture.
The change means Morocco will now face a different challenge in their final match of the international window.
The encounter should provide valuable minutes for players looking to strengthen their position within the squad, while also allowing the coaching staff to assess different tactical combinations.
One Final Test in Tangier
The match will take place on Sunday, October 4, at 6 p.m. GMT at the Grand Stade de Tanger.
After two competitive victories, the friendly offers the coaching staff a chance to rotate, experiment and continue developing the squad before Morocco return to competitive action.
For the Atlas Lions, it will be another opportunity to maintain their positive momentum in front of their home supporters.
