Morocco's futsal national team is set for another international test later this year, with the Atlas Lions scheduled to face Japan in a two-match friendly series in Oita.
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) announced on Thursday that the two sides will meet on November 6 and 8, 2026, giving Morocco another valuable opportunity to test itself against one of Asia's leading futsal nations.
Two Meetings in Oita
Both matches will be played at the Karasso Bodokan Sports Center in Oita, Japan.
The back-to-back fixtures will provide Morocco with two competitive encounters against a technically strong opponent while allowing the coaching staff to continue developing the squad through international competition.
A Major Asian Futsal Force
Japan enters the series as one of the continent's established futsal powers.
The Samurai Five currently sit 17th in the FIFA futsal rankings and are ranked first in Asia, underlining the scale of the challenge awaiting the Atlas Lions.
Japan has also built an impressive continental record, winning four AFC Futsal Asian Cups in 2006, 2012, 2014 and 2022, the second-highest total in the competition's history.
The Japanese national team has also appeared at the FIFA Futsal World Cup five times, bringing valuable experience to the upcoming encounters.
Another Step for Moroccan Futsal
For Morocco, the two friendlies will form part of the team's continued development after the Morocco 2026 Africa Cup of Nations.
Facing a highly experienced Japanese side twice in the space of three days will offer the Atlas Lions an excellent opportunity to sharpen their tactical approach, build cohesion and gain further international experience.
