The Morocco national team returned home on Wednesday after completing their second AFCON 2027 qualifying match in South Africa, immediately turning their attention toward recovery and the next international fixture.
The Atlas Lions arrived at Rabat–Salé Airport in the early hours of the morning following a demanding flight of around 12 hours from South Africa.
A Recovery Session in Salé
With the players returning after a physically demanding away fixture, the coaching staff scheduled a recovery-focused training session at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Salé.
The session is designed primarily to help the squad recover from the effects of the journey and the recent match, rather than carrying out a full tactical workout.
Players who featured against Lesotho will be given sufficient time to recover as the staff carefully manage their physical workload.
Turning the Focus Toward the Next Challenge
The recovery period comes ahead of Morocco’s next international fixture, with the Atlas Lions preparing for a friendly against Mali on October 4 at the Grand Stade de Tanger.
After opening their AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign with victories over Gabon and Lesotho, the national team will now use the friendly as another opportunity to maintain momentum while giving the coaching staff the chance to assess different options within the squad.
Managing the Squad After a Busy Schedule
The short turnaround between the South African trip and the upcoming match makes recovery an important part of the preparations.
For the players who have carried significant minutes during the opening qualifying matches, the priority will be restoring freshness before returning to more intensive work.
With the next fixture approaching, Morocco will gradually shift from recovery to tactical preparation as the squad continues its international window on home soil.
